Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients' Galactasol® Carboxymethyl Hydroxypropyl Guar (CMHPG) polymer is anionic guar used as a fracturing fluid in oil and gas recovery. Viscosity build over time is dependent on pH, shear rates, and temperature.
Galactasol® CMHPG is often self-hydrating, so no external buffer systems are required to control viscosity development. CHMPG also performs well in cold environments; while sensitive to salts, it quickly develops functional viscosity and is alcohol tolerant. Galactasol® CMHPG polymers exhibit good thermal stability and can be crosslinked with a number of transitional metal ions, including borates. Galactasol® CMHPG exhibits excellent carrying capacity to support sand or other proppants.
