With the introduction of Advantage® defoamers, Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients is helping manufacturers minimize entrained air and resultant foam during the manufacture and application of paints & coatings.
In addition, we are focusing efforts on developing “green” defoamer technology with our new line of Advantage AV non-mineral oil based defoamers. Advantage AV defoamers are designed to meet the increasing performance demands in coatings, while reducing the impact of mineral oil based defoamers on our environment.
The bar graph below presents the performance of Advantage defoamers versus a competitive defoamer in a standard 70% PVC interior flat architectural paint. Advantage AN1512 and AV1425 defoamers exhibited the highest defoaming efficiency for this paint formulation. Both of these Advantage defoamers also displayed excellent film appearance. Advantage AV1425 defoamer is a “greener”, renewable vegetable oil.
