Tobacco Applications

Reconstituted tobacco sheets are produced from recycled tobacco dust generated during the production of cigarettes and cigars. These sheets, also called "binders," are used as a layer between the "filler" layer of tobacco and the "wrapper" layer. Ashland Aqualon Functional lngredients offers products that, when employed as both a binder and as a glue for tobacco sheets, minimize cracks, lumps and shrinkage of the sheets during drying.

In addition, AQUALON® cellulose ethers provide a uniform appearance, high tenacity (tearing strength), and sheet elasticity.
